Associate Instructor Preparation for Teaching 2008 presents common practices for the preparation of graduate student instructors for teaching and measures of their prevalence across campus. In addition, we provide narratives of how departments implement Associate Instructor training practices in contextualized, innovative, or novel ways.
These ideas and resources may help individual departments assess and modify their practices. New editions of this work in progress will be produced annually to reflect current trends and to highlight just a few of the many laudable ways our departments prepare graduate instructors to teach.
This summary report builds upon the 2007 publication with updated data and new highlights of noteworthy departmental activities.
Feedback and questions about the report may be sent to Katherine Kearns in Instructional Support Services.
